Linden Waldorf School Reviews by Parents
Posted November 07, 2014
Don t be fooled. Linden Waldorf School is deceptive and harmful to children and families. My family's experience here was nightmarish and included orchestrated emotional and psychological abuse by teachers, overt shunning and shaming of students and families, rampant unchecked bullying, and poor quality teachers. Before choosing this school, you should thoroughly investigate its religious underpinnings. Google search Waldorf beliefs, Waldorf criticisms and Waldorf scandals. The uninitiated should understand that Waldorf education is based on anthroposophy, a spiritual science created by Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner. Anthroposophy revolves around spiritual advancement through reincarnation and karma; a central idea is that souls progress from dark-skinned races to light-skinned. The purpose of Waldorf schools is to guide the reincarnation of children s souls. Most parents don t realize it, but anthroposophy determines EVERYTHING that happens here, from how children are assessed to the superstitious avoidance of technology to the color of paint on classroom walls. Cleanliness and safety are ignored, classrooms are roach-infested, and secrecy is paramount. Bad karma. - a Parent

This school should be avoided if you are truly looking for a loving, inclusive, globally conscious school. The culture is stated as being child centered, globally inclusive, heart focused, spirit oriented. But it is not the actual culture. Rather it is excluive, rigid, authoritarian, occult, isolating. While my children attended I witnessed a new student, a kind, sweet child with a family that seemed very loving was ostracized, bullied, treated in a most hateful manner because they were unique. That was the final straw for my family. We were never told of the culture of openness meant only open to what they think and nothing else. They say, advertise, pretend to be holistic, creative, loving but rather they are anything but unless you meet their exact specifications. And those occult, Wiccan expectations are and were never discussed. If that is your thing, then peace, love, and hopefully your children will be happy. But if not your children will be abused and made to feel very unwelcome.

  1. My daughter is a second grader at LW, and I willingly admit that it's not perfect. Is bullying an issue? Yes. Could parent-teacher communication be improved? Definitely. But the assertion that cleanliness and safety are ignored, and that the classrooms are roach-infested, is ridiculous. The campus is clean, beautifully landscaped, and the classrooms are warm, inviting, and insect-free. As in any school, the teacher makes all the difference, and it is fair to say that the quality of LW education varies depending on the skills and attitude of the teacher.

  3. We spent a couple of years there and left after I finally listened and paid attention to the nonstop concerns of my husband (who was there more than I). We are true Rudolf Steiner devotees, and found this school to be full of a few "leaders" that don't tell the truth and that aren't following Waldorf principles as human beings. Our child was bullied (as were others in the class) and it was handled unprofessionally and inappropriately. I could go on but there is not a reason to because on it's current path, the school appears on a trajectory to self destruct.

    1. Would you be willing to have a conversation about your experiences at Linden Waldorf School? I am considering taking a job there and I would like to have a better sense of what is going on at the school from people who have been there.

You may ask, "where are all the 5=Star reviews?" Well, the problem with those reviews is that many tend not to be too honest. I have included 4-star reviews that appear honest. Often, gushing reviews are placed by teachers and administrators - as some comments here indicate. "This school educates the whole child!!!" - 5 stars - by Anonymous... I say baloney! Notice, many of the reviewers have been misled by Waldorf and are still buying the PR, even after having been disappointed. Feel free to comment but understand the intent of this blog.
