While this school uses the brand name, Waldorf, it is
far from a Waldorf school. Children are treated as second-class
citizens. I made the mistake with one of my children, but not the other.
In a word, terrible. One or two good teachers and certainly an
administration without class. Don't let this school ruin your children!

My child had a problem with bullying as well. Luckily, the bully left the school. My biggest problem is that the school is not well maintained. Frankly, it looks like a dump.
My son has been bullied by another student for several years. The teachers do nothing to help my son. They have told us that it is our son's fault that he is bullied. The administration tells us "Your son needs to be more aggressive with the other boys." What do they mean by that? Do they want our son to fight back? My husband and I had decided to finally remove our son from this school. Our son is doing well at his new school.

ReplyDeleteDo not entrust your children's precious formative years here. On the surface it seems wonderful, but your children will possibly leave not only bullied by other children, but even worse, emotionally suppressed, and expecting that they deserve to be treated badly by other children. This is amongst other issues of control and non-communication. There is no accountability or transparency. All is well at Spring Garden, quite rosy and dreamy actually, until your child becomes the one being bullied, which, if your child is sensitive, is more likely to happen. The teachers subtly encourage alienating and cliquey behavior amongst even the youngest children. Teachers believe that being emotionally and physically absued is the child's 'karma.' It is, simply put, a blame-the-victim mentality. The staff excudes a form of spiritual pride that leads parents to shrink amidst their spiritual authority and disables them from standing up for their children in an effective way. This is not all the staff, there are some good people, but it is such a noticeable number that it is therefore the culture of the school. If you stand up for your children, watch out. It gets very weird very fast. You cannot question or criticize the procedures of the school. Period. (Look into the gun threat incident in Oct 2015, which I mention even though it is unrelated to any of our personal experiences, but I feel everyone should know about this sort of issue before sending their child to a tuition-paying private school). The way it was handled and painted over was eerie. There are a lot of skeletons in the closet of this community.

ReplyDeleteThe parents that send their kids to school here are either in prison, were in prison, are currently drug addicts or former drug addicts. As a result they produced very unstable children who attend here, unstable, mentally ill and off in every way. My kid was bullied, teacher did nothing and knew about it. This school is lucky I did not sue them and put them out of business. A complete joke.
