If you decide to take your child out, as I did, they shake you down to continue making payments.
My child was in school for only 2 days, I already paid them $1200, and now they are shaking me down for another $2100. Plus, when I applied, I was told that financial aid was available. Well, after spending a lot of time filling out the application, they turned around and said that they don't give financial aid because they already charge a low tuition. Wish I knew that before I applied and wasted all my time filling out the forms and making copies of taxes, w2s, bank statements, etc.
Although their school year does not start until the 2nd week of September, they ask for the first payment on August 1st, even though there are no classes. Then they want the 2nd payment on Sep 2nd, again, before school has even started.
If you decide that the school is not for you, too bad, they demand you keep on paying tuition. This means they are unaccountable for anything. You are expected to continue paying tuition regardless of what they do. They can do anything they want, and you have to pay.
Imagine if my client decides they are not happy with my services, and it's because I did a bad job. My client decides to go elsewhere. Am I allowed to continue billing them? That's a joke.
On day 1, my kid, in the 6th grade, was forced to crawl on her hands and knees through mud, in her new white sneakers. Then she had to do it again, except this time walking sideways like a crab. You can't make this up.
99% of classes were held outside in 100 degree weather, when there were weather advisory warnings, because they don't want to pay for air conditioning. They spent all day in the heat. If they are telling people to stay indoors, why are the kids outside?
The kids were supposed to have access to the "activity box" during lunch, but the key to the lock broke, so there was no activity. You'd think for $12,000 a year, they'd have a working lock on day one, but no. Not even a second key. And by day 2, still nobody went to the friggin locksmith to get another key.
Which brings me to the tether ball. My kid loves tether ball. Well, after 5 minutes, the chain broke. Was it fixed by day 2? Nope. What do you want for 12k a year?
Then, when it was time for woodshop class, guess what? No key to the class. So instead, the teacher told a story about a poor girl from the Victorian age, who lived a hard life then dies. Wow. Just wow.
On day 2, they had to go into the auditorium and climb chairs, making believe the auditorium was a cave filling up with flood water.
Uh...ok?
Again, we are talking about 6th graders.
My kid was one of only 2 other girls in her class. If you combined the girls from grades 6 thru 8, there were a total of 4 girls. Hmmm.
There are songs for everything. They sing a hello song, a goodbye song, a lunch song, an after lunch song, a bathroom song, a tie my shoe song, a song for sneezing, etc etc.
There was no academia or sports. Instead, they just played the type of games you'd expect to see Pre- K kids playing.
This is a progressive school??? This is not progressive, this is living in a bubble that will not prepare your kid for high school. Who ever heard of middle schoolers crawling through mud and singing songs like they were in pre-K? This school is WEIRD.
This school has a really bad reputation, but I was foolish enough to give it a try because I'm not crazy about LAUSD schools.
Every time I told somebody that I enrolled my child into Valley Waldorf, they all gave me that look. Like, Oh just you wait.
Well, now I know what they were talking about.
Don't sign any contracts! You will regret it.ROD MAIORANOnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4268549717815146574.post-27518597965129944612021-06-09T23:40:04.565-07:002021-06-09T23:40:04.565-07:00google 1727
